Wholesale corsetry has a sameness problem. Walk through a dozen independent boutiques in a dozen different cities and you will often find the same silhouettes, the same prints, and the same steel-boned overbusts — bought from the same distributors, at the same margins, competing on the same price. For the retailer, differentiation quietly disappears. For the customer, discovery does too.
PRIVATE RESERVE™ is our answer to that problem. It is a Territory Protection Program built directly into the way Corset Wholesale Ltd. manufactures and distributes corsets — factory-direct, demand-driven, and structured so that a design a retailer secures in their market stays theirs to sell. This guide explains exactly how it works, why we built it, and how independent retailers use it to build collections their competitors cannot copy.
What Is PRIVATE RESERVE™?
PRIVATE RESERVE™ is an internal Territory Protection Program operated by Corset Wholesale Ltd. Under it, each participating corset design is allocated to one approved wholesale retailer per protected market. Once a retailer secures a style in their territory, we do not sell that same style to another retailer in the same territory.
The philosophy is deliberately simple: One Design. One Retailer. One Market. It is not a legal exclusivity agreement, and it involves no contracts, signing fees, or minimum-unit commitments. It is a company policy — a promise about how we allocate — backed by a real allocation ledger and enforced at the point of order. That distinction matters, and we explain it in full below.
Every PRIVATE RESERVE™ style begins life in our Preview Collection, where approved retailers signal demand before a design is manufactured. The most-requested designs move into production and become eligible for Territory Protection through the PRIVATE RESERVE™ Collection.
Why We Created PRIVATE RESERVE™
For over twenty years, Corset Wholesale Ltd. has manufactured steel-boned corsets, corset dresses, and gothic and steampunk apparel from our own factory. In that time we have developed well over 1,000 original designs and shipped to retailers in more than 32 countries. We saw the same pattern repeat: a retailer would discover a design, build a customer base around it, and then watch three competing shops in the same city stock the identical piece months later.
Traditional wholesale rewards volume, not loyalty. Distributors sell the same catalogue to everyone, which is efficient for the distributor and corrosive for the retailer. We wanted a model that rewarded the retailers who take a risk on a new design — the ones who help a style succeed in the first place. PRIVATE RESERVE™ is that model. It aligns our manufacturing with real demand and gives the retailers who create that demand a protected position in their market.
Territory Protection, Explained
Territory Protection is the mechanism at the heart of the program. When you are approved as a wholesale customer, your market is derived automatically from your verified business address. You never select it, and it cannot be changed on a whim — which is what keeps the system fair.
How markets are defined
Granularity is set per country so that protection is meaningful without being unreasonably broad:
- United States — by state (e.g. California, Texas, New York)
- Canada — by province (e.g. Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec)
- United Kingdom — by nation (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland)
- Australia — by state/territory (e.g. New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland)
- European Union, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and other markets — by country
What "protected" actually means
Protection applies to an individual style within a single market. If you secure design CWL-1701 in New York, no other New York retailer can secure CWL-1701 — but a retailer in Los Angeles, London, or Berlin still can. And a second New York retailer is entirely free to secure a different design. The result is a market where several independent boutiques can each build a distinctive PRIVATE RESERVE™ range without ever colliding on the same piece.
Because this is a company allocation policy rather than a legal exclusivity contract, we are honest about its limits: the same design may still be produced for other markets, and it may appear in our own channels. Honesty is the whole defence of a policy-based model, and we would rather set expectations clearly than over-promise.
One Style. One Retailer. One Market.
The tagline is not marketing shorthand — it is the literal rule the system enforces. Every active allocation in our ledger is a unique pairing of a style and a market, bound to a single retailer. Duplicate allocations are impossible by design: the moment a market is taken for a design, the next retailer who wants it is offered the waiting list instead. There is no manual approval queue and no ambiguity. The first approved retailer to secure a free market gets it.
The Preview Collection: Demand Before Production
Most manufacturers guess what to make, produce it, and hope it sells. We invert that. New designs first appear in the Preview Collection — a private, retailer-only gallery of pre-production concepts. Retailers browse the designs and click "I WANT THIS" on the ones they want to stock. Each click is a genuine demand signal, not a vote in a popularity contest.
This does two things at once. It tells us which designs deserve to be manufactured, and it lets a retailer reserve their market the instant they express interest — if the style is still free in their territory, it is allocated to them automatically. By the time a design reaches production, we already know it has buyers, and those buyers already hold their protected positions.
Demand-Driven Manufacturing
Because we own our factory, we can produce to proven demand rather than to forecast. That is better for everyone. Retailers are not asked to commit to designs no one wants; we are not left with dead stock; and the designs that do reach production arrive with a built-in order book. It is a leaner, more accurate supply chain — and it is only possible because manufacturing, demand collection, and allocation all live under one roof. If you want to understand the factory side of this, our overview of factory and manufacturing and our private label and OEM services go deeper.
Membership Benefits
- Unique product selection — stock designs your local competitors cannot source.
- Reduced local competition — protect selected styles from being allocated to another retailer in your market.
- Healthier margins — less direct price comparison means less pressure to discount.
- Factory-direct pricing — buy from the manufacturer, not a middleman.
- Early access — secure premium designs before wider release.
- A genuinely distinctive brand — build an assortment customers can only get from you.
Marketplace Policy: Approved Sales Channels
Exclusivity is only valuable if it is protected. PRIVATE RESERVE™ styles therefore may not be sold on public online marketplaces — Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart Marketplace, Temu, AliExpress, Wish, TikTok Shop or similar — where price comparison erodes the value of a protected design for every participating retailer. You are free to sell through the channels that build your brand: your own website, your physical retail store, your social media (Facebook, Instagram), and direct customer sales.
Maintaining Your Territory Protection
Allocations remain active while your account maintains a minimum of USD $1,500 in wholesale purchases per calendar month. Crucially, that requirement can be met with any Corset Wholesale products — classic and gothic collections, corset dresses, waist trainers, accessories, or Private Reserve styles. It is not limited to Private Reserve purchases. If the minimum is not maintained, we reserve the right to release your allocated styles back into the program for other qualified retailers, so active retailers are never blocked by dormant reservations.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is PRIVATE RESERVE™?
A Territory Protection Program from Corset Wholesale Ltd. that allocates each design to one approved retailer per market, with factory-direct pricing. It is an internal policy, not a legal exclusivity contract.
How is my territory decided?
Automatically, from the verified business address on your approved wholesale account — US by state, Canada by province, UK by nation, Australia by state, and most other markets by country.
Does one retailer lock an entire territory?
No — protection is per style. Different retailers in the same market can hold different designs; no two can hold the same design in the same market.
How do I keep my allocated styles?
Maintain USD $1,500 in monthly wholesale purchases across any products. Fall below it and we may release the styles back into the program.
Where can I sell PRIVATE RESERVE™ styles?
Your own website, physical store, social channels and direct sales — not public marketplaces like Amazon or eBay.
